Working with a Dream Journal…
Tracking dreams can be a potent practice in and of itself. Just the simple act of remembering and recording your dreams can bring new connections and insight and draw more of the creative potential of dream into your waking life.
To set up a Dream Journal:
● Begin with a new journal
● Reserve the first 1-5 pages for a dreaming index
● Create and name 4 columns on each of these 1-5 index pages: Title these columns “Page”/”Date”/”Dream Title”/”Symbols & Allies” across the top of each of these index pages
● Each day after you note your dream(s), you'll give your dreams descriptive titles (ie “Flying Through the Night Garden”) and note them in this index next to the dates and page numbers. You might also include symbols (specific images ie. stairs, a door, water, a shape) and/or allies (a bear, my grandmother etc.) from yourdreams.
(note: Index inspired by Stephanie Gailing's Complete Book of Dreams)
Keep this journal and something to write with by your bedside. Record your dreams each morning as you’re able. Make this your devotion. Should you be a very avid dreamer whose dreams tend to interfere with deep rest, you might like to give yourself “nights off” by setting the intention to have deep, dreamless sleep.
